Sermon Notes

An Original_curse of comparison

March 17, 2019

  • Where __________ begins, ___________ ends.

2 Corinthians 10:12 NLT …But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!

  • Comparing makes you feel either ________ or _______________ honors God.

John 20:2-4, 6, 8 NIV So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.

Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,

Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside…

John 21:20-22 NIV Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them… 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”

You can never fully follow Jesus while __________ ________ to someone else.

  • ___ or ____ is going to determine my _____?

Hebrews 12:1-2
